Transportation
Driving & parking
Whether driving from the north or the south, we recommend taking the scenic coastal highway CA-1 before you hit the US-101. If you’re new to Northern California and have some time to spare exploring, this is your chance to soak in the beauty of the West Coast where it meets the Pacific. It’s a longer route to drive but is very picturesque and captures the essence of the California Coastline.
Car rentals available at both SFO & ACV if flying in.
There will be parking signs at the venue directing you to the parking lot.

Local Points of Interest
Redwoods National & State Parks
-
Fern Canyon is very special to Annie as the epitome of a prehistoric world. The trail indeed is a canyon of fern walls and shallow streams that take you back to the Mesozoic era. Jurassic Park 2 (TLW) was also filmed here (stegosaurus scene)!
Reservations required in advance. Bring spare shoes or wet hiking shoes. Your feet will get wet and the water is frigid!
-
Head to the Prairie Creek Visitor Center: https://maps.app.goo.gl/gz2xNASbN9HmWdQ38
Almost all trails start from the visitor center where you can get a map & info to pick and choose the trail (s) you might want to explore.
They’re all very pretty but personal recommendations are the Miner’s Ridge to James Irvine Loop that also goes to Fern Canyon. It is however a good 11.6 miles (took Annie 6 hours last time), and no cell service. There are many other shorter hikes as options.
Trinidad State Beach
-
Several trails available. The beach is also an option with tide pools and stretches of sand. Please note, the water is very cold.
-
Trinidad Head Trail goes right up to the lighthouse.
Sue-Meg State Park (Patrick’s Point)
-
A famous rock by the shore where some wedding ceremonies have taken place. You can get here by following the Wedding Rock Trail, not far from the parking lot.
-
Not far from Wedding Rock trail, at the same parking lot, you can find signs for Overlook Trail. Pretty views of the Pacific Ocean. A very short walk. Low effort, high returns!
-
A short, rugged hike with beautiful views of the coast. Not a huge time commitment.
Travel Recommendations - Mexico
Transportation
Airports
Cancun International Airport (CUN)
Address: Carr. a Aeropuerto Cancún, 77500 Cancún, Q.R., Mexico
Distance from resort venue: 54.8 miles
Cheaper flights from the US. Non-stop flights available.
Tulum International Airport / Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Carrillo Puerto (TQO)
Address: 9F7C+72, 77796 Macario Gómez, Q.R., Mexico
Distance from venue: 46 miles
No direct flights & costlier from the US
Ground Transportation
Airports ↔ Lodging
Shuttle services available via eTransfers. Reserve at your convenience.
We can connect you with a trusted driver for airport runs at fair rates. If your timing lines up with others, group rides might be possible, but the schedule could fill up quickly during wedding week!
Ride sharing services like Uber & Lyft are banned in the state of Quintana Roo. There are taxis but swindling is commonplace.
Car rentals available at both CUN & TQO. We don’t recommend this because driving here can be quite chaotic.
Public transit buses available via ADO
Grand Palladium resort ↔ Cenote Taak Bi Ha | Friday, December 5th
We’ll have private shuttles going between the resort and the cenote. If you’re staying with us at the resort, you’ll automatically be included unless you let us know otherwise.
We’ll share real-time shuttle updates on Discord, but plan to meet in the resort lobby of the TRS Yucatan Hotel around 3:30pm for a 4pm departure.
If you’re staying elsewhere, you’re welcome to hop on the group shuttle. Just make your way to the resort lobby. Heads up: there’s a $100 access fee if you drive in and park at the resort. You can also drive straight to the cenote, but parking is tight since we’ll be reserving space for the shuttles.
Lodging
Other in-resort options
The Grand Palladium property has the following other resort options in addition to the ones we reserved. If interested in one of these resorts instead, let us know - we can still get you the group discount!
Grand Palladium Colonial Resort & Spa (Family-friendly)
On the other side of the property but just a short walk or golf cart ride away from the main venue.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/VdgnJxXaxYCU1V3i7
Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa (Family-friendly)
Farthest from the venue and right next to the Colonial resort listed above. https://maps.app.goo.gl/F33puoDoqESxqE4E6
We highly recommend staying at one of the Grand Palladium resort options for the following reasons:
Ease of logistics for both days: Group transport on ceremony day (12/5) to the cenote already arranged for on-site guests. The reception is just a quick golf cart ride away.
The resort is all-inclusive, reasonably priced compared to others in the area, and packed with amenities (pools, bars, restaurants, beach access). Staying off-site means handling your own transport, meals, and supplies; plus there’s a $100 entry fee to attend the reception, and limited access to the resort.
Group room blocks
We’d love to have you close by so we can all relax and celebrate together!
We’ve reserved room blocks at 2 resorts within the Grand Palladium:
TRS Yucatan Hotel (Adults-only)
This is where we (bride & groom) will be staying. These rooms are the closest to the reception venue in the entire property. https://maps.app.goo.gl/fdwdPiufZRGkkBwJ8
Grand Palladium White Sand Resort & Spa (Family-friendly)
Right next to the TRS Yucatan Hotel & very close to the reception venue. https://maps.app.goo.gl/9fs4oUQeFK6y3z3P9
If these rooms are no longer available when you book, or if you want a room upgrade, please let us know. Our flexible reservation allows us to expand and upgrade as needed. We can make it happen!
Important deadlines:
August 12, 2025 - 1st & 2nd deposits
September 5, 2025 - Final payment

Activities & Local Points of Interest
Cenotes
-
Dos Ojos Park has several cenotes (sinkholes) - the most popular one being Cenote Dos Ojos, which can be accessed for swimming, snorkeling, and even cavern diving.
Cenote Taak Bi Ha, where the ceremony will be held, is also part of this park and can be dived as well. Cenote Dream Gate is another good cavern dive.
If you’re an advanced diver and not afraid of deep dives, check out Cenote El Pit.
Entry to these cenotes is roughly around MXN$350 and cash only.
-
This park has a lot of rich history, or rather, prehistory. Cenote Zapote & Cenote Maravilla are a must-see.
They are both deep, vertical sinkholes (100+ feet) with unique bell-shaped formations at depth, surrounded by a cloud layer of hydrogen sulfide! Zapote can be dived by advanced divers and freedivers. It is also open to snorkelers & swimmers. Maravilla is only open for advanced diving and freediving.
Located in Puerto Morelos, about a 1.5 hour drive from the resort one-way.
Archaeological Sites
-
An open site of Mayan ruins that used to be an ancient Mayan city. Pretty views of the ocean. In Tulum proper, not far from the resort.
-
A famous site but quite the journey (roughly a 3-hour drive one-way from the resort), and is a full-day investment. If visiting, make sure to carry a lot of water. It can get super hot!
Nearby towns / locales
-
The island of Cozumel is a quick ferry ride (30-45 mins) from Playa del Carmen and can be seen from the mainland. It is pretty slow here and is primarily a diving-focused island. If you’re a diver, do check it out if you haven’t already!
-
A quaint little town on the way to Chichen Itza. Be sure to pass by if you’re visiting that way. Famous for its Longaniza sausages!
Frequently Asked Questions
California Wedding FAQs
-
The festivities begin at 3pm on Saturday, September the 13th. We will begin with an outdoor ceremony, followed by a couple of hours of cocktails and a live band. After this, there will be a seated and plated 3-course dinner. The dance floor is open all the way until we close shop at midnight!
The next day, we’ll host a casual Sunday brunch for anyone still around, likely starting after 12 PM, so we can all enjoy a well-deserved sleep-in.
-
The ceremony will be seated and outdoors with some tree cover.
The cocktail hour will be partially on the open deck, with some tables under the covered portion of the deck.
Dinner reception will be indoors while the dance floor will also be on the open deck.
-
While Northern California weather is typically unpredictable, with mostly cold, windy, foggy days with gray cloud cover, we occasionally get rare sunny days. No expectations but we hope for and appreciate if are lucky to get one of those lovely sunset days!
Temperatures can range anywhere from 53-67°F. Warmer days are rare but can happen. We recommended layered clothing. We’ll also have indoor heating + outdoor heaters on the deck.
-
Absolutely! Please include it in the RSVP form. Our amazing caterer will also be including food allergen labeling & information whenever food is served.
-
There is never an Annie & Ryan event without libations. We’ll have our signature cocktails as well as beer, wine and non-alcoholic options. The usual tea, coffee, water, juice options will also be available. Drink up, folks!
-
Option 1: SFO
Flying into SFO and driving from there to Trinidad is a good 5-6 hour drive (if taking the US-101; it’s longer if you take the CA-1, a.k.a. the scenic coastal highway 1 (for a damn good reason)!
Do this if you would like to soak in some California views (coastal if taking highway 1, redwoods if taking the 101), and don’t mind a long but scenic road trip. Also recommended if you wish to spend some time in the San Francisco city area. Please note, SFO is in the town of Millbrae, which is still a good 30-min drive to the city.
Option 2: California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport a.k.a. Eureka / Arcata airport
This is a good option if you aren’t interested in a long drive. It’s only a 9-minute drive from the venue! The area still has the redwoods and California coast so there’s still plenty to see.
-
There are plenty of inns, BnBs in the Eureka / Arcata / Trinidad area. Check out some recommendations here: <insert link later>
-
The most convenient way to get around is via a private vehicle. Several car rental options are available at both SFO and ACV airports. Turo is also an option.
-
We adore your kids, but for this special evening, we’re keeping things adults-only. We hope you’ll join us for a night of grown-up fun!
-
We consider your presence as our presents (heh)! In all seriousness, we don’t want gifts. We ask that you come have a good time with us! Perhaps bring empty stomachs, lol.
-
We’ll have a shared Google album that guests can add photos and video to.
We do ask that any social media posts related to the wedding be kept to private accounts and not shared to public accounts.
-
Ideally, the earlier the better. The hard cutoff is August 12. After this date, we cannot make any changes due to vendor requirements.
-
The general vibe is “black tie optional”.
Most of the celebrations will be on a wooden deck and hardwood floor, with the ceremony on grass. There will be some downhill walking between the ceremony and reception location but driving in groups is also an option.
We recommend layers and comfortable shoes for the weather and terrain.
-
There is a big parking lot. Venue staff will direct folks to parking spots.
-
It’ll be a semi-traditional outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception located right by a beach along the coast of Northern California. The vibe is meant to be chill, nature-focused, hopefully with a view of the sunset on the Pacific Ocean!
-
Northern California is home to the couple ~ 17 years for Annie, and 4 for Ryan, and has a special place in our heart.
-
The ceremony location is a short 5-minute downhill walk to the beach house. Guests who prefer the 1-minute drive may do so and re-park at the lot.
The beach house has a very small flight of stairs (3-4 steps).
-
We consider ourselves fortunate to have so many loved ones from places near and afar. However, the geographical distance means that we have some folks who cannot be a part of the California celebrations, and some who cannot travel all the way to Mexico. We hope for as many of our loved ones to share in our joy and so, two weddings in different locations made sense. It was also a fun opportunity for us to incorporate the places that mean so much to us, in our celebration plans.
-
That is absolutely fine! We appreciate any event you can make it to, but we also completely understand that it might not be feasible for various reasons. Our love for you doesn’t change. We can always catch up another time, and we’ll remember you fondly during our celebrations - perhaps even have an extra drink in your honor!
Mexico Wedding FAQs
-
Friday, December 5: The underwater ceremony begins at 5 PM, followed by dinner and drinks with us later that night.
Saturday, December 6: Join us at 6 PM for a beachside cocktail hour and reception—we’re hoping for a stunning sunset over the Caribbean.
-
The ceremony will take place at Cenote Taak Bi Ha, within Dos Ojos Park, a stunning sinkhole featuring a large chamber and stalactites.
The vows and ring exchange will happen underwater in a slightly deeper area to allow space for the couple, officiant, and photographer.
Divers and snorkelers will have assigned positions and must remain still during the ceremony to minimize movement and splashing; good control is essential.
All “wet” guests must arrive 2–3 days early for an in-water rehearsal.
-
Divers attending the ceremony will have assigned positions and must remain in place throughout. An instructor will be present underwater. Solid buoyancy, trim, and positioning are essential to avoid silting or disrupting the ceremony.
Please plan to arrive by Tuesday, December 2 for at least two days of rehearsal dives before the ceremony on the 5th.
If you RSVP’d as a diver, we’ll contact you soon to coordinate gear, rentals, logistics, and practice sessions.
-
Snorkelers attending the ceremony will be assigned specific positions and must remain in place throughout. Strong trim and positioning are important to avoid disrupting the ceremony.
Please arrive by Wednesday, December 3, to allow at least one day for rehearsal before the ceremony on the 5th.
If you RSVP’d as a snorkeler, we’ll follow up with details on gear, rentals, logistics, and practice sessions.
Note: Snorkeling spots are very limited. We will close the list after the first 4 confirmed guests.
-
As a “dry” guest, you can view the live stream of the ceremony whilst seated on the benches in the dry portion of the cave. If you wish to view the happenings from up-top, closer to the edge or platform of the water, please be mindful about blocking the view for other guests.
-
The cenote ceremony will take place in a sinkhole with natural cave cover overhead. While protected, it's still considered an outdoor environment—natural light filters through roof openings, and we’ll provide bug spray for “dry” guests.
The cocktail hour and reception will be held on a paved beachfront terrace with partial cover—still outdoors but without sand. An adjacent indoor restaurant is available as a weather backup, though it remains open to the public.
-
Early December is a lovely, pleasant time of year in the Yucatan peninsula ~ comfortably warm and not too humid.
Surface temperatures can range anywhere from 84-90°F. Water temperature in the cenotes stays consistent at 77°F. Occasionally, passing showers can occur, but typically last only for a few minutes.
-
Absolutely! Please include your dietary needs in the RSVP form. Also, never an Annie & Ryan event without libations - we’ll have an open bar with some local selections. Drink up!
-
Cancun International Airport (CUN) is your best bet. There is also Tulum airport, but CUN is cheaper to fly into from the US at least.
-
Yes! We’ve reserved a room block at both TRS Yucatan (adults-only) and Grand Palladium White Sands (family-friendly), all within the Grand Palladium Resort. Rates are all-inclusive.
Reserve here: https://l.paradiseweddings.com/anne-and-ryan
Booking code: 1206
Deposit deadline: August 12, 2025
If rooms are full or you run into issues, just reach out—we’ll make sure you’re accommodated!
You’re welcome to book elsewhere, but we highly recommend staying at our resort for ease and savings:
Guests staying offsite must pay a $100 per person resort access fee to attend the reception on Dec 6.
You’ll also need to arrange your own transportation to the cenote on Dec 5 and to the resort on Dec 6. We’ll provide group transport for on-site guests.
The resort offers all-inclusive rates (food, drinks, entertainment, amenities), while staying elsewhere may lead to added costs and logistics.
We’d love for you to stay with us, but completely understand if you can’t. Just note that we won’t be able to coordinate transportation or logistics for offsite guests.
-
Transportation options can vary based on your lodging situation.
If staying at the resort:
We can connect you with our shuttle contact for airport transfers.
The resort is walkable, with complimentary golf carts available throughout.
Group transportation will be arranged for the Dec 5 cenote ceremony.
If staying elsewhere:
We can share our shuttle contact, though priority will go to resort guests.
Rideshares (Uber/Lyft) are not available.
Taxis exist but can be unreliable—and overcharging is common.
Renting a car is possible, but driving in Mexico can be chaotic if you're not used to it!
-
We adore your kids, but we’re keeping the events adults-only. However, the Grand Palladium Resort (White Sands) is family-friendly, in case you would like to make it a family vacation and bring a caretaker or sitter along.
-
We consider your presence as our presents (heh)! In all seriousness, we don’t want gifts. We ask that you come have a good time with us! Perhaps bring empty stomachs, lol.
-
We’ll be sharing a Google album where guests can upload photos and videos.
Underwater ceremony footage will be added there—we ask that you keep these videos private and not share them publicly.
Please also keep any wedding-related social media posts on private accounts only, not shared publicly.
-
Ideally, the earlier the better! If staying at the resort with us, the hard cutoff for booking accommodations (first deposit) is August 12th. Final payments for lodging are due on September 5th.
-
The general vibe is “tropical and chill”.
Ceremony:
Closed comfortable walking shoes are recommended since getting into the cave requires walking through rocky and wet terrain and stairs.
If getting in the water, please also bring a change of clothes, towel, and boots for your fins (if open-heeled)
Diving attire: Water time should be roughly 20-30 minutes. Ensure enough exposure protection if prone to getting cold in 77°F water like the bride.
Reception: Beachy, casual tropical attire is welcome. No swimwear, please. The terrace venue is paved; no sand.
-
Cenote Taak Bi Ha: There is limited parking at the cenote. Most spots will be occupied by our group shuttles and private vehicles for the wedding party.
Grand Palladium resort: There should be plenty of parking at the resort if visiting from outside. Do note that the access fee of $100 applies if not staying at the resort.
-
With an underwater ceremony in a cenote and a beachside reception, the vibe is meant to capture the essence of the Riviera Maya that means so much to both of us.
The cenote captures the rawness of the Mayan jungle, the geology of the region, combined with our love for diving. The beachside reception is meant to represent our affinity for the Mexican Caribbean and of course, ocean vibes!
-
The cave system in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula (Sistema Sac Actun) is the longest network of underwater caves in the world. As avid scuba divers, the cenotes hold an extremely special place in our hearts. Here is where Annie trained to be a cave diver (one of her life goals), and also where Ryan follows suit into the world of technical diving. Cenote Taak Bi Ha (ceremony site) is where Annie did her first ever cenote and cavern dive. We’re also both geology enthusiasts and love caves in general. Did you know our shared ‘claustrophilia’ was one of the conversation topics on our first date?
Since dating each other, we’ve made biannual trips here to dive, train for technical diving, celebrate and enjoy nice little vacations! We think of Playa del Carmen and the surrounding area as our second home.
-
Accessing the cenote involves stairs and uneven, rocky terrain. The area near the water can be wet and slippery—please use caution.
The reception venue is accessible for all.
